Diversity of Plankton in the Paddy Fields of Thoubal District, Manipur

Abstract

The physico-chemical and biological analysis of water in the paddy fields of ThoubalDistrict with reference to phytoplankton Zooplankton, fish fauna and benthic macroinvertebrate is reported. The dynamic structure and composition of the biota indifferent seasons is regarded as a key to the prevailing ecological and environmentalcondition of the water body. It is observed that the water in the paddy fields in thestudy area receive more stress from sewage and organic effluents since no properirrigation system in the paddy field.
