Abstract

Altmetrics, or alternative metrics, have emerged as a complementary approach to traditional bibliometric indicators for measuring the impact of scholarly publications. This study investigates the altmetric profiles of the top 5 Library and Information Science journals indexed in the Web of Science database. Using a comprehensive dataset, the study analyzes various altmetric indicators, such as social media mentions, citations, and online engagement, to provide a nuanced understanding of the scholarly impact of these journals. The findings offer insights into the evolving role of altmetrics in the assessment of Library and Information Science research and its implications for the field.
