Sustainable Cement Production: Exploring the Interplay of Social Efficiency, Worker Health, and Labor Equity

Abstract

This research study undertook a thorough examination of the social efficiency within the cement sector in Kashmir. The study specifically concentrated on three crucial indicators of social sustainability, namely the health of workers, equity and diversity, and fair labor practices. By utilizing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS SEM) and conducting a study with a sample size of 272 employees from all operational cement plants in the region of Kashmir, our research revealed a strong and statistically significant relationship between social efficiency and key factors such as workers' health, equity and diversity, and fair labor standards. The aforementioned findings highlight the importance of fostering a socially responsible and sustainable cement business in the area, which has significant implications for improving both economic and social welfare.
