Impact Of English on The Cross-Cultural Information Flow in Digital Libraries
Main Article Content
Abstract
The rapid growth of digital libraries has revolutionized the way information is disseminated across the globe. As these libraries become increasingly significant in academic, professional, and public domains, language plays a critical role in facilitating or hindering the cross-cultural information flow. English, being the dominant language of the internet and digital resources, serves as both a conduit and a barrier in this context. This paper examines the impact of English on cross-cultural information flow within digital libraries. By analyzing the benefits and challenges posed by the predominance of English, the paper explores how language affects accessibility, inclusivity, and the exchange of knowledge in a multicultural digital ecosystem. The research highlights both the empowering and marginalizing effects of English dominance, and discusses possible solutions for enhancing linguistic diversity to improve global information sharing.
