Abstract

Milnacipran is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) primarily used in the treatment of major depressive disorder and fibromyalgia. The aim of this study was to formulate and evaluate controlled-release Milnacipran tablets using hydrophilic polymers (HPMC K4M, HPMC K100M) and polyacrylate polymers (Eudragit RS100, Eudragit RL100) to enhance antidepressant activity. A total of 15 formulations (F1-F15) were developed using a direct compression method. "The micromeritic properties of the formulation blends were assessed.'' The compressed tablets were evaluated for various parameters such as hardness, friability, weight uniformity, and drug content, all of which met the required standards. The study concluded that both Eudragit and HPMC polymers effectively controlled the release of Milnacipran, making the formulations suitable for once-daily administration, potentially improving patient compliance and therapeutic outcomes.
