Abstract

This article explores the expression of deixis in spatial reference, analyzing how speakers use linguistic elements to position objects and individuals within space. Through a comparative study of various languages, we identify the strategies employed to indicate proximity and distance, as well as their impact on contextual understanding. The findings highlight the significance of spatial deixis in communication, offering insights into its role in human interaction and cognition. By examining how spatial reference shapes meaning-making processes, this analysis aims to deepen our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of spatial expression and its influence on interpretive frameworks. Ultimately, this study contributes to the broader field of linguistics by elucidating the complex interplay between language, thought, and social interaction in the construction of spatial awareness.
