Literature Review on “A Study to Measure the Impact of Financial Assistance from Government on Quality at Selected MSMEs in the State of Gujarat, India”

Abstract

Studies have found that MSMEs' (or SMEs) lack of quality prevents them from competing in the international market. International Standard ISO 9001:2015 (earlier ISO 9000:2000), known as the "Quality Management Standard," requires organizations to implement and maintain specific requirements mentioned therein. Studies have also found that Indian MSMEs are not proactive in getting themselves ISO 9001 certified due to various barriers. Customers   in the international market prefer ISO 9001-certified suppliers. Getting certified for ISO 9001 allows MSMEs in exporting their products. Many researchers have concluded that 'finance' is one of the barriers to achieving ISO 9001 certification. To overcome this barrier, the Government of India provides financial assistance to the MSMEs (SMEs) to achieve ISO 9001 certification for quality management. This literature review aims to find out the  research gap   in the impact of financial assistance from government on quality at selected MSMEs of Gujarat.
