Abstract

India has a vast and intricate judicial system for its more than 1.3 billion people. The Indian litigation and Justice delivery system is not only out of date, but it is also time-consuming and cumbersome. The decisions in various cases are influenced and affected by the increasing pendency of cases in India. Judicial and legal reforms are essential if India is to meet the expectations of 21st-century goals. This must be done by maintaining a position that preserves the court's reputation and supports its critical role in maintaining public confidence in the protection provided to them by the law. Implementing the Internet and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Indian judiciary needs rejuvenation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to overcome some of the challenges faced by the judicial system in India. One of the significant advantages of AI is its ability to analyze vast amounts of data quickly and efficiently, which can help identify patterns and predict case outcomes. AI-powered case management systems can help prioritize cases, reducing delays in the disposal of cases. AI-powered case management systems, legal research tools, and document analysis tools can help improve access to justice and reduce delays. This research paper explores the role of AI in access to justice and justice delivery in India, including its potential applications, advantages, and limitations.
