Factors Influencing Student’s Engagement: Environmental Art Design Students At Suzhou Vocational Colleges

Abstract

The objective of this study was to explore the factors influencing the students’ engagement in environmental art design classes in Suzhou Vocational colleges. Survey research design was used with a distribution of questionnaires to a sample of 384 subjects. Descriptive statistics with mean, standard deviation, Frequency, and Percentage and CFA were employed to examine the five-factors model of learning engagement of students majoring in Environmental Art Design courses at the vocational colleges in Suzhou City. The results showed that the relevance of course content and the quality of interaction between teachers and students had a significant positive impact on student engagement. In addition, the openness and support of the learning environment are also important facilitators of student participation. This study provided a model of factors influencing students’ engagement that can be used to improve the teaching quality of the Environmental Art Design with the practical suggestions on how to optimize teaching strategies in vocational colleges in Suzhou Vocational Colleges.
