Abstract

In recent years, herbal medicinal products, or HMPs, have become increasingly popular as complementary and alternative medicines. However, because plant materials, preparation techniques, and regulatory frameworks vary widely, the quality and safety of these products continue to be the key concerns. The purpose of this review is to examine the procedures and guidelines used worldwide to guarantee the caliber and security of HMPs. The importance of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP), and quality control methods including microbiological testing and phytochemical analysis are examined. We also go over how international agencies like the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) establish standards and guidelines. This review's thorough analysis highlights the necessity of implementing strong quality assurance systems and harmonizing legislation in order to improve customer safety and trust in HMPs.
