Abstract

The preservation of local languages has become essential in an era dominated by globalization and technological advancements. The Mekongga Language, spoken explicitly by communities in Kolaka, also faces challenges in maintaining its existence amidst solid global cultural influences. This article discusses the role of technology-based learning platforms in enhancing efforts to preserve the Mekongga Language. Through qualitative research, this article discusses an online platform developed to support local language preservation: siKongga-LMS Bahasa Mekongga. The findings indicate that using the platform significantly contributes to strengthening efforts to preserve the Mekongga Language, which gives opportunities for collaboration among academics, native speakers, and government entities in developing educational content that meets the Mekongga community's needs. The article also highlights several challenges that may arise in adopting the platform, such as the availability of internet access, resource limitations, and concerns about the loss of cultural dimensions in technology usage. Therefore, with the right approach and support from all stakeholders, the platform can be an effective tool in maintaining the sustainability of the Mekongga language, strengthening cultural identity, and preserving the linguistic heritage of the Mekongga community.
