Blockchain Technology in Supply Chain Management

Abstract

Blockchain technology (BCT) has gained prominence mostly because of the growing attention on Bitcoin, leading to its effect extending beyond the financial industry. The shift has led to a growing scholarly interest in applying Behavioural Contract Theory (BCT) in Supply Chain Management (SCM) in various business scenarios. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of current advancements and probable future research directions by integrating two distinct perspectives on behavioural change strategies in supply chain management. The research thoroughly develops a framework for classifying various use cases of BCT in supply chain management by leveraging its unique qualities. The technique includes a comprehensive analysis of 53 cases of BCT implementation in supply chain management (SCM). This analysis is based on a systematic assessment of the literature and a dataset that demonstrates supply chain management advancements driven by blockchain technology. The five novel BCT application clusters discovered in supply chain management surpass traditional applications such as product tracking and tracing. This project aims to enhance our comprehension of the possible uses of blockchain technology in supply chain management and to explore new research opportunities in the evolving realm of blockchain-driven supply chain operations.
