Abstract

India is also the second-largest consumer of fertilizers worldwide and, demand during critical cropping seasons like Kharif and Rabi is very important from food security point-of-view. However, despite the increased consumption, logistics and supply chain management (SCM) in India is still nascent vis-à-vis other developed nations where nearly 18% of GDP is spent on these generated services; only around 2%. This paper aims to study important factors affecting the effectiveness of SCM in India's fertilizer industry with a specific focus on its impact on competitiveness. By a scoping review methodology, the study searched from several data sources to summarize main challenges and opportunities. The results show the cost of marketing in fertilizer company financial performance can be optimized by implementing SCM appropriate. The paper wraps up by suggesting that for the sake of good SCM in the Fertilizer sector, there is an urgent need to amalgamate transport management grade and develop better distribution networking.
